100 Good Wishes Quilt
Attention, families with children from Huainan! We are creating a 100 Good Wishes Quilt, or a Bai Jia Bei, for the children in the Believe in Me School at the Huainan orphanage in Anhui.
For those of you not familiar with the Bai Jia Bei or 100 Good Wishes quilt, this is a lovely custom in which friends and family are invited to contribute a patch of cloth with a wish for a baby. Part of the patch of cloth goes into the quilt for the baby, and the other part of the cloth can go into a creative memory notebook with the wish for the child. The quilt contains the luck, energy, and good wishes from all the families and friends who contributed a piece of fabric. The quilt is then passed down from generation to generation.
The completed quilt and scrapbook of children who have “graduated” from BIM Huainan will be presented to the orphanage this year. We know they will be thrilled to see the faces of the many children who were in their care, now home with their forever families! When the project is completed, participants will receive a report with photos of the quilt, the scrapbook, and the presentation ceremony at the orphanage.
We would love to have families with Huainan children at home, as well as friends of the Believe in Me Huainan School, participate in this fundraiser. What a wonderful way to show your support for the children still living in the orphanage while updating the orphanage staff on your child adopted from Huainan! For a $100 tax deductible donation, you can have your child represented in the 100 Good Wishes Quilt and scrapbook, both of which will be displayed at the Believe in Me Huainan School for years to come.
Donors will be contacted about the specific size and specifications for their quilt and scrapbook pieces after their donation is received. Please email LWB’s Education Team with any questions. Thank you for your support of this project and the children at LWB’s Believe in Me Huainan School.
