Announcing The 2012 Teacher Training Team
The wait is over, and we are ready to announce that we have found our team for the 2012 teacher training! We are so thankful for the dozens of amazing educators who applied this year. We had a really challenging job narrowing down who would be on this year’s team as all of the applicants were so talented. How awesome that so many teachers and therapists across America wanted to give a week of their summer break to help orphaned children with special needs in China!
The team that has been chosen represents a diverse set of skills that we feel will be extremely beneficial for the training. Our team members include Amy H. from Florida, seen above with her family. Amy brings 11 years of teaching experience in Elementary Education with special education inclusion.
Ellen M. (above) from Wisconsin, is a K-12 Physical Education and Adaptive Physical Education teacher. Ellen has taught for 16 years in schools that serve students with disabilities ranging from mild to severe/profound.
Carol M., from Arizona, is seen above. She has taught K-8 Special Education for nine years and has been a School Psychologist (serving birth to 21 years) for the last 12 years.
The last member of our teacher training team is Lisa W. from Illinois, an Occupation Therapy Assistant. Lisa has worked in Pediatrics and Special Education for 13 years, nine of those years in school settings with children who have multiple disabilities.
We know this team will have an amazing impact on the 24 teachers and dozens of students they will meet in Anhui Province this summer. This will be an amazing experience for our Believe in Me teachers, as they will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and learn new methods of teaching children with special needs. We can’t wait to bring you day by day updates as the training takes place from July 16 – 20, 2012.
