Thank you for your inquiry. We do not have a foster care program at Zhongshan but would welcome your donation on behalf of this orphanage. We would ask our China staff to contact the orphanage to see what their needs are and would then use any donations for items such as clothing, coats, formula, etc. If you are interested, please email orphanageassistance@lwbmail.com.

Prior to that I am hoping that you can help us. I had read on your blog that donations can be made to a particular program or child. We would like to make a donation but are wondering how a donation would help the Children’s Welfare Institute of Zhongshan District, Liupanshui City, and our daughter Zhong Bao Er more specifically. Can you let me know how our donation would be used? Can we pay to sponsor Zhong Bao Er in foster care?

Terri,
I live in Australia, and have adopted one child from China (would love to adopt another!) You need to contact your Government Families & Adoptions Dept, in your State. I'm in Adelaide - it's known as AFIS (adoption families information service), under the Dept of Families & Communities banner. Each State has different laws regarding International Adoption.

Dear Amy,

My name is Dawn and after reading your reading your blog entry: Journey to Guizhou – Reflections with tears in my eyes I just had to write to you.

My husband and I are in the process of adopting and bringing home our daughter Zhong Bao Er, whose date of birth is 08-26-09. Zhong Baoer is currently living at the Children’s Welfare Institute of Zhongshan District, Liupanshui City (I believe that the first child picture on that blog entry is from the same orphanage as Bao Er).

Bao Er is Hepatitis B+, VERY small, and developmentally delayed. More than anything we want to help her, love her and bring her home to us. Of course, the wait time after referral is sometimes unbearable.

We have another beautiful little girl (Quinn) whom we adopted in 2009 from Guilin. Although Quinn is also hepatitis B+ she was in foster care in China, where she received plenty of love and support. She is a wonderful, happy, beautiful, healthy little girl who is so very excited to meet her little sister Bao Er.

We look very forward to hearing from you. I am so worried about Zhong Bao Er and would feel ever blessed if we could help her while she is still in China.

With our best wishes,
Dawn, Kevin and Quinn Vaughn
