Introducing Ifan! Ifan is a gorgeous seven year old boy who has been in our foster care program in Anhui for most of his life.
Ifan currently lives with a loving foster family and one sister, Elin. (His younger foster sister, Nancy, was adopted just a few weeks ago). He takes his role of brother very seriously and is very protective of these girls!
Ifan asks his foster parents about Nancy all the time. He seems to especially miss her at mealtimes. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Ifan could one day be adopted like Nancy?
Ifan’s special need is listed as limb bilateral talipes, or clubfoot. He was treated for this condition as a baby and can now run and jump quite well, although sometimes he cannot lift his legs as high as he would like.
Ifan attends school where he plays very well with other children. He is sometimes a bit mischievous and is very creative in finding ways to play! Although his comprehension seems to be quite good, he does struggle a bit with memorizing and recognizing characters.
Liza Rider is our foster care coordinator for Ifan’s program. She writes:
Ifan is an utter delight! Every month I look forward to reading his report to see what this gorgeous boy has been up to.
From dressing up as The Monkey King (see above photo), to holding his sisters’ hands as they take their evening stroll along the road, to helping his Mum with the chores and his Dad with the shopping, Ifan ‘attacks’ life with an enthusiasm and openness that gets me every time.
He has a terrific sense of fun, tempered by a deep sense of responsibility; he looks after his two sisters with such thoughtfulness and kindness and obviously relishes being the leader. Every picture of Ifan shows him – invariably grinning – completely engaged with whatever is going on. He is totally committed to the moment!
Any family lucky enough to find Ifan would be welcoming a remarkable little person into their lives; a boy who shines with a rare joie-de-vivre and a huge appetite for love and life. He is kind, considerate and caring, and I feel that the family that embraces Ifan should be enriched and blessed with a beacon of joy. ~Liza Rider
