We are adopting a little girl who is a student in one of your Believe in Me schools. We have found two pictures of her, labeled with an American name. We just wanted to know if she is aware of the American name that you gave her? We are considering giving her an American name, and wanted to use the one you had chosen if she was already familiar with it. Thank you.
The children in our “Believe In Me” schools are not aware of the western names we give them when talking about them publicly and to their sponsors. We use these to comply with the CCAA and the Hague Treaty to protect the child’s identity.

I came across your website from a friend on facebook. Last August I lost my son before he was even born at 7.5 months pregnant. Looking at these children brings me joy… I feel like a mother who has no child to care for. I’m wondering if you do opportunities for volunteers to come abroad. I don’t speak Chinese, so I don’t know how realistic my thought is but I thought it would be worth a try.
Thanks for your interest! LWB occasionally sends teams of volunteers to China to work with orphaned children, but usually the people who travel are certified either in the medical field (such as doctors, nurses, or physical therapists) or in special education. If you have a degree in a field that could benefit one of our program areas, we would encourage you to fill out a volunteer application online!
There are several groups who do allow short term volunteers to help with the children in their care. Some suggestions for groups to contact include:

Although this is is an issue primarily concerning Western countries, not China, I wonder if you would be interested in doing a post on bone marrow donations. Ethnic Asians, like all non-Caucasians, are under-represented in the donor registries, which makes it hard to find matches for Asian patients who need bone marrow or stem cell transplants.
