Picking Flowers with Jonathan

Jonathan always seems to happy! Each month when we see his foster care reports, he is smiling, laughing, playing with friends…and generally enjoying life. His sweet side appeared as well this month in these photos of him carefully picking flowers!

Jonathan lives with his foster family in Hunan province where it has been extremely hot. This must be why he had a shaved head this month — usually we see him with more hair! Jonathan’s foster family took in a new foster brother over the summer as well, and he’s been enjoying being the big brother to Willie and showing him the ropes. In fact, being a “big brother” seems to have made him more physically active as he and Willie run around and play. It’s also helped him to be a better listener as he hears advice from his foster father and then makes sure Willie understands it as well.

Like many five year olds, Jonathan has a very mischievous streak, but he is quite good-natured. He is said to be outgoing in most cases, but he can feel shy at other times as well.

When we last wrote about Jonathan in March, we posted some adorable video footage of him singing that touched our hearts (see “Jonathan Shines“). He has been in our foster care program for over three years now, and while we have enjoyed watching him grow, we would prefer to see him with parents (and maybe a brother or sister) of his very own.

Jonathan left ear was not properly formed, and he has scoliosis.  We know with so many children waiting to be adopted it can take awhile for the right family to find their waiting child, and we hope Jonathan’s family finds him soon.  How sweet it would be to be the mama for whom Jonathan picks a beautiful bouquet of flowers!
