Willy is an adorable four-year-old boy in LWB’s Shunyi Foster Care Program in Beijing.  At this time, he is waiting for his family to find him through CCAA’s shared list.

Willy is a boy who LOVES preschool and is in his element there with all of his little friends.  Besides excelling at learning characters and counting, he also is a typical boy who loves to jump on the trampoline and play games of soldiers and tag with his foster brothers. When he isn’t in the classroom, playing on the playground and digging in the dirt are some of his favorite things to do. Willy is all boy and will eat anything that isn’t nailed down these days!

He is a delightful child and shares his smiles with everyone. He is very outgoing and social. He is described as being very polite. He has recently learned all his ABC’s in English and like a typical kid turns L, M, N, O, P, into “eliminop”!!!

Although it is not visible in these photos, Willy has a number of medical issues. Some parts of Willy’s skin are very dry or scaly as the result of a genetic condition, Ichthyoses, which means that his skin does not shed like yours and mine. Additionally, he had surgery in 2006 to repair bilateral hernias. Neither of these conditions seem to get in the way of Willy living up to reputation as “All Boy”!

Look at that darling smile!   Sixteen-month-old Hollie has plenty of personality and is very social and outgoing. In fact, she loves to be out and about in crowded places in her stroller and talks and responds with giggles and glee when adults play with her.  Hollie is part of our Sanmenxia Foster Care Program in Henan, and we love reading about how she has bonded so well with her foster family, especially her foster grandmother. Every night when Hollie goes to bed, she wants to hear her grandmother’s voice to fall asleep. If the grandmother isn’t around, she will cry for her.

Hollie has a number of medical issues; however, these have so far not impeded her physical development in any way, and her caregivers are pleased by how she has continued to progress. She zips around in her walker and eats well; her favorite foods are watermelon and pears.

According to our reports and confirmed by photos we have received, Hollie is entranced with stuffed animals and always chooses the largest one she can find!

It’s our understanding that Hollie is on the shared list and is waiting to be adopted. She would certainly be a delight to any family. Please spread the word about this precious baby girl!

Jonathan has a very unusual nickname! He is known as “Small Six-Six” (translated directly from the Chinese) because he has six digits on his right hand. He tends to respond to this name more than his given Chinese name with his very endearing smile. Jonathan is two years and seven months old and has been in our Xiangtan foster care program in Hunan since October 2009.

Since becoming part of his foster family, Jonathan has become very attached to his foster parents, particularly to his foster dad (pictured below with a bundled-up Jonathan).

Although Jonathan was slow to begin walking, he is a very determined little guy and kept “practicing” by pushing a stool around in front of him until he got it right. He is quite strong and is able to get to most places that he wanted to go. Now he can walk very well, and this has opened up a new world for him, as he can interact with other children when the occasion arises. Jonathan is very open to new experiences and trying out new things, whether it’s tasting a different type of food or playing with different toys. He likes to share these experiences with those close to him, such as his foster parents and LWB’s foster care manager when she comes to visit.

Jonathan is such an endearing little boy. When he was younger he seemed more serious, but now he smiles a lot. In fact, he has a good sense of humor and it’s easy to make him laugh. This wonderful boy would thrive in his own “forever” family, and it’s our opinion that the family who adopts Jonathan will be very fortunate indeed.

Just look at that face! Doesn’t John seem to be saying, “I’m looking for a few good sponsors. Do you know where I could find one or two?” John is a healthy four month old baby boy. He has been placed with a foster family in our Loudi Foster Care program in Hunan but still requires two sponsorships to be fully funded.

John loves being held in his foster mom’s arms and bounced gently by her. He gazes at her with a smile on his face when she speaks to him. He is an active baby who is very watchful of all that happens around him. But all that activity helps him sleep well, only getting up once to be fed in the night. When John awakens, he doesn’t cry but waits patiently sucking his fingers in his crib until his foster mom comes to get him up.

These small details of this child’s life are such an encouragement. He is so “normal.” And that is what foster care is all about – providing a loving, nurturing and “normal” family environment to a child who would otherwise experience anything but “normal.” Would you like to help support John in his wonderfully normal infancy? Patxi is a very handsome four and a half year-old boy who just entered our Tongren Foster Care program in Guizhou a couple of months ago. He is a sweet child, always smiling and cheerful. Every time our manager visits him, he greets her very politely. Well done, Patxi!

Patxi is a very active and extroverted boy who loves so many things about life: playing with his foster sister (shown in these photos), eating watermelon and apples, and his foster dad’s motorbike. Most of all, however, he loves to take pictures. We think we have a future photographer on our hands!

As you can see from these photos, Patxi loves having a foster sister and really looks out for her — and she adores him! He certainly has a lot of love to offer. Colin is a charming 7-year-old boy in need of a forever family. Love Without Boundaries provided a foster family for him in 2009 in our Sanmenxia Foster Care program in Henan. We are thrilled that Colin has bonded beautifully with his foster family and is especially close to his foster grandmother, with whom he loves to take walks. If she allows him to help her, he will give up anything — even the chance to play with his friends!

Born with hydrocephalus, Colin has had surgery from which he has recovered well. However, he does have some weakness on his left side. Understandably, he has some fear of hospitals from this experience! He needs assistance to take a bath and struggles a bit with physical education at school. Despite these issues, this wonderful little boy has learned responsibility by learning to clean his room and help with other chores.

Colin is very active and likes to complete his homework quickly so he has more time to play. He can read as well as add and subtract and is particularly interested in mathematics.

If Colin were filling out a questionnaire about his favorite things, here are a few that he would list:

When I read the LWB foster care reports each month, it always bring me such joy when I see a photo of a child with a big, spontaneous smile.  In every report we have received about two-year-old Rusty and his personality, abilities and needs, there is one thing that never changes:  HE IS ALWAYS SMILING!

When he is walking, when he is playing, when he is kicking around a soccer ball, Rusty continually wears a smile on his sweet face.

Born with a cleft lip and palate and some digit deformities, Rusty has had surgery now to repair his cleft lip and palate. As a result, we’re now hoping to see his language start to progress. He is in our Shantou Foster Care program, and his foster mother says that even now, Rusty can communicate quite well non-verbally even when he cannot say the words. Just like other little boys his age, he likes to push around little cars and play with his younger brother. Rusty can draw with a pencil and use chopsticks despite his digit deformities.

You cannot hold this young man back!

Ciaran is a wonderful four-year-old little boy in our Loudi Foster Care program in Hunan.  He lives with Down Syndrome, so his speech development is a bit slower, but his understanding is excellent.  He is a polite little boy who is quick to run to get a stool for his foster mom when she comes in from outside.  He is quick to be obedient and enjoys collecting his toys and putting them away after playtime.  What a happy helper he is!

My favorite part of each report I read about Ciaran is the description of his relationship with his younger foster sister.  He enjoys holding her hand to help her walk around the house, and they often babble together, looking at one another and smiling, even though no one else understands what they are saying to each other. He is also so very patient with his little friend.  When she steals his toys, he lets her play with them for a while.  When she throws his blocks, he kindly picks them up and puts them back in the bucket for her to throw again.  Our monitor describes him as being a complete gentleman.

Ciaran has made such progress in recent months that he has received permission to attend the local kindergarten.  He’s going to have his first day of school in just a few short weeks!  I can’t wait to watch him blossom even further with the added stimulation.  I’m sure he will prove to be just as much a gentleman to his teacher and classmates as he is in his home.

Diana is a darling girl who has certainly been through a lot in her little life. She was brought to the attention of Love Without Boundaries in March this year when she was brought to our Anhui Cleft Healing Home. Diana was so tiny, weighing a mere 2kg! In addition to having a cleft lip and palate, she was thought to have been born prematurely.

After spending a short time in the Healing Home, Diana took a turn for the worse and had to be transferred to Anhui Children’s Hospital. She was very sick indeed and spent around a month in hospital before she was finally discharged in April.

Soon upon her return to our Anhui Cleft Healing Home, she was grabbing the nannies’ attention. Diana LOVES attention, and while she is happy to be placed down in a bouncy chair, she soon shows her disapproval if the nanny does not focus her attention on her. By June, Diana was easily recognising her main caregiver. If she saw her caregiver in the room, she would start to make noise to attract her attention and her eyes would follow the nanny everywhere.

As we moved into July, Diana was making great progress and ready for surgery on her cleft lip and palate. Now that she’s had her surgery, she will ready to move to foster care in the coming month. To enable Diana to move to a loving foster family as early as possible, we need to ensure she has at least two sponsors. Each sponsor will receive monthly reports and photos so they can watch her settle and grow in her new family. Sponsorships cost $35 a month, but we are also grateful to accept donations of any size for Diana for the start up costs associated with moving her to foster care. We will need to ensure she has a crib, new clothes, bedding etc., so donations of any size would be most appreciated and can be made directly on Diana’s sponsor page. David is a sweet boy with a sweet tooth!  His foster mother reports that he just loves candy.  But he’s also sweet-hearted enough to share candy with his friends (much to the delight of his proud foster mother).

David is a playful seven-year-old who likes to play hide and go seek with friends and pick flowers outside.   His mild demeanor shows in his face, but don’t let him fool you…he is full of little boy busy-ness!  In fact, in the photo above, you can see the stitches he got on his head after he took a tumble while playing with a friend…how typical of a seven-year old boy!

Although it takes him awhile to warm up, it’s worth it when you finally get a smile (which we struggle to catch on camera!) or when you convince him to sing you a song that he learned at school.

In 2007, Love Without Boundaries was able to provide David with heart surgery. Following his surgery, we were fortunate to place him in our Fuyang Foster Care program, where he currently lives. Now that he is available for adoption, we hope that he will bring his sweetness to a family soon.
