Last August we ran a blog on Colin from our Sanmenxia foster care program.  This young man is still on the shared list waiting to be adopted. We thought our readers might enjoy seeing how much Colin has grown since our last report.  His foster family says that he is an excellent eater and will eat just about anything, which is easy to believe by looking at his photos and seeing how much he has grown since the summer. Colin’s missing teeth must not be slowing him down!

Colin is a typical active boy who loves playing outdoors. He does struggle with school and would truly benefit from having more educational options and support from an adoptive family. We’re hoping that a family will come forward for him sometime soon!

In “Colin And a Few Of His Favorite Things” we described some of the things Colins likes best.  Like most eight-year-olds, that list changes frequently…so without further ado, here is Colin’s new list:

Favorite Holiday: Spring Festival (particularly his grandmother’s special dumplings)
Favorite Sport: Outdoor sports like football
Favorite Food: Fried Chicken
Favorite TV show: Children’s music programs
Favorite Family Member: Grandma!

Colin has always been close to his foster grandmother. It’s nice to see that even as he grows up a bit, some things never change!

We are sure that an adoptive family would also make Colin’s favorites list.  Please help us spread the word about this young man so that he can have a permanent family of his own!

Every night when Hollie goes to bed, she wants to hear her grandmother’s voice to fall asleep. If the grandmother isn’t around, she will cry for her.

Hollie has a number of medical issues; however, these have so far not impeded her physical development in any way, and her caregivers are pleased by how she has continued to progress. She zips around in her walker and eats well; her favorite foods are watermelon and pears.

According to our reports and confirmed by photos we have received, Hollie is entranced with stuffed animals and always chooses the largest one she can find!

It’s our understanding that Hollie is on the shared list and is waiting to be adopted. She would certainly be a delight to any family. Please spread the word about this precious baby girl!

Colin is a charming 7-year-old boy in need of a forever family. Love Without Boundaries provided a foster family for him in 2009 in our Sanmenxia Foster Care program in Henan. We are thrilled that Colin has bonded beautifully with his foster family and is especially close to his foster grandmother, with whom he loves to take walks. If she allows him to help her, he will give up anything — even the chance to play with his friends!

Born with hydrocephalus, Colin has had surgery from which he has recovered well. However, he does have some weakness on his left side. Understandably, he has some fear of hospitals from this experience! He needs assistance to take a bath and struggles a bit with physical education at school. Despite these issues, this wonderful little boy has learned responsibility by learning to clean his room and help with other chores.

Colin is very active and likes to complete his homework quickly so he has more time to play. He can read as well as add and subtract and is particularly interested in mathematics.

If Colin were filling out a questionnaire about his favorite things, here are a few that he would list:

Favorite holiday: Children’s Day
Favorite thing to do with friends: Play with boats
Food weakness: Sweets
Favorite films: Kung-fu movies
Other interests: Singing and listening to children’s songs

Colin has done very well in a family setting and would really benefit from a forever family, as well as schooling and medical care tailored to his needs. Please spread the word about this special little boy!

Little Noah from Sanmenxia was born with an ear deformity, but he doesn’t need perfect hearing to know he is special to his foster grandmother!

Noah loves spending time with her and imitating her behavior. Maybe that’s why they have matching smiles!

This photo just cracked me up. Alivia is one of the Sanmenxia Foster care children and LWB Medical has arranged for her to have spinal tumor surgery on the 26th.

This is what she is doing to pass the time in the hospital while she waits. She just turned two the middle of January! If she is not reading, she sure is doing a good imitation.

Our local manager for LWB’s foster care program in Sanmenxia recently made his visits to the foster care families and found this lovely girl scrutinizing a brand new doll. We were all taken by the expression on her face; what could she be thinking? Perhaps “Cute doll, but what’s with the yellow hair?”

Spending a late afternoon picking wild persimmons amidst the beauty of the rural China landscape… that is something our foster parents do in our new program in Sanmenxia.

We were very thankful this Thanksgiving as Peter, our Associate China Foster Care Director, and Han Fei, Sanmenxia’s Foster Care Manager, went to Sanmenxia to visit all the children in our new foster care program there. They were able to get some great information on the kids and wonderful pictures. I was delighted to not only see the pictures of the children, but also the photos of Sanmenxia. What a beautiful city!


There are many mountains in Sanmenxia. The Yellow River is shown here.


I am fascinated by the tiered farming they do in the region.


It is not every day that you see hot chili peppers growing along a wall.


I hope Alivia and her foster grandmother like bananas.


Noah looks like a happy little boy and look at the love on the lady’s face watching him.


Isn’t Dessie adorable? If it weren’t for the food in her hand I would think she was blowing us a kiss.

Sanmenxia Foster Care is off to a great start! I am looking forward to learning more about Sanmenxia and the children there. They seem to be so happy in their foster homes.
