For adoptive families, the Going Home Barbie presented by the White Swan Hotel is something many families keep as a treasured memory of the time when their child became part of their family. Little Miss Norah has an extra special story for her Going Home Barbie.

Miss Norah was part of three Love Without Boundaries programs. Her heart surgery was sponsored by the LWB medical program, LWB foster care sponsored a wonderful foster family for her, and her tuition was covered by an LWB education sponsor. All of her sponsors will be delighted to know Norah now has a forever family and is doing just great. Norah joined her family just as Love Without Boundaries was preparing for the 2009 Born in My Heart Auction. Her family donated their Coming Home Barbie to the Auction which brought over $200 toward sponsoring heart surgery for another child.

<

Norah’s Going Home Barbie not only symbolized her going home to her own family — it helped pave the way for another child’s healthy heart and hope for a permanent family. Now that is one Extra Special Going Home Barbie!

Amy is a tiny newborn from Guiyang with a serious birth defect. This birth defect is life-threatening if not treated surgically within the few first months or even weeks after birth. We were told last week that little Amy is having a lot of pain and discomfort, and her stomach is now getting quite large.

Despite her painful condition, she is full of smiles and likes to be around people. Amy needs surgery as soon as possible but unfortunately we don’t have the funding for her yet. She still needs $2200 for her hospital and travel expenses. Will you please consider helping this precious baby girl get the surgery she so urgently needs? We gratefully accept donations of any amount towards her surgery here. Thank you!

There is no greater joy in this world than the joy that comes from being a Mother. Like most mothers, I sit in awe that I have been entrusted with the lives of all of these little ones.

We are the ones our children run to when they scrape their knees. We are the ones who know how to put the band-aid on just right and the ones who get to hug away the tears. Our children trust that, no matter what, we will always be there. This journey of Motherhood we are all a part of is truly an amazing blessing.

In my life, I have had the wonderful blessing to be a mother 8 times over, with 4 biological children and 4 adopted from China (3 home and one who waits for us to bring him home). Now, as I wait for our 8th child to come home to his forever family, it is such a blessing to us to know that he is being taken care of in foster care. Sam’s foster care is being provided by Love without Boundaries through the generosity of a loving family who gave of themselves to make a difference in the life of a child – our child. For this gift, we will be eternally grateful to Love Without Boundaries, Sam’s sponsor family, and to the many other families that sponsor children like Sam.

We know that today there are thousands of little Sams, Graces, Hannahs, and Johnathans waiting for their forever families in China. We can make a difference in the lives of those who wait right now by sponsoring a child in foster care through Love Without Boundaries.

So this Mother’s day, to honor our mothers whose care went unnoticed when we were growing up, the mothers on the other side of the world who will never get a chance to experience the small things that we might take for granted, and the foster moms who give so selflessly of themselves, we are making a donation to Love without Boundaries this year that will go towards sponsoring children who wait in foster care.

I hope you will join us in supporting this life-changing organization.

Amie, mom to 7, soon to be 8!

Maria is a darling girl who has been featured in our blog several times. Now 2.5 years old, Maria came to our Heartbridge Pediatric Healing Unit when she was just 12 months old. She has been suffering from a rare disorder, possibly Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome, in which she cannot keep down any food or drink for up to a week at a time. During her bad cycles Maria is tube fed, and while she is feeling healthy, we get as many extra calories into her as possible.

The great news is that she has been well for the past three months, and has put on 2 pounds 9 ounces since the start of the year. That is an absolutely HUGE accomplishment for little Maria, who is still about the size of a 10 month old infant…but GAINING! Just last month she was only the size of a 6 month old, so we are really pleased and hopeful! Maria needs several sponsors at $50 per month to help her achieve her full potential and hopefully find a family.
