Thanks for checking on Jia! We are still waiting to hear from a doctor here that is reviewing her reports. However, the good news is that she is feeling better. The tumor seems to have shrunk as a result of treatment, so she is more comfortable.

This just rips at my heart!! Are these children not available for adoption? There are people that the Lord calls to adopt children that are sick. I see her sweet face and it's difficult to even process why something can't be done to get her to a family who could care for her one and one and give her the medical attention she needs, regardless of her prognosis. I will be praying- praying- praying! God Bless you all!

Jocelyn, you have asked a question that goes to the heart of the ethics involved with providing medical care to children when there are SO many who need help. We also have long discussions when we have general medical funding to spend on which children need to go first. Is it somehow "better" to spend $50,000 saving the lives of ten orphaned children with simple heart defects or do you use the same amount to save one child with severe heart disease? (some of our more severe heart cases have cost $50,000...and those children have gone on to be adopted and are cherished by their families). Should you always heal "in order" of when they come into your hands? Or do you actually try to decide which children have the best chance of life? These decisions are so difficult, but since there are always more children who need help than funds available, these questions are unfortunately a part of the work. We never want to give up on a child, so when we can't help, we try to find others who might be able to or contact agencies to see if an orphaned child could possibly be adopted if they can't get medical treatment in country. And we pray, pray, pray for wisdom as we hold these kids in our hearts.

This may sound callous, but if there are so many children who need healing, and some children unfortunately are very unlikely to be saved, wouldn't it be better to spend the money on the children who can be healed? But for heaven's sake, please do all you can to keep the dying from suffering. God bless all the little ones!
