“DEAR” Readers

There is no Frigate like a Book
To take us Lands away,
Nor any Coursers like a Page
Of prancing Poetry.

~ Emily Dickinson ~

Some of us with elementary school children in our lives are familiar with the real meaning of the word DEAR. DEAR stands for Drop Everything And Read! Schools all around us know the value of learning through reading…. structured textbook reading, as well as leisure reading. This kind of learning is facilitated through DEAR sessions.

Recently, photos from our “Believe In Me” School in Jingzhou show that not only are our students learning reading, writing, and arithmetic, they are also reading for FUN! In fact, these photos remind us of DEAR.

We appreciate all those donors who have peeked at LWB education’s holiday wish list on the website and given the gift of reading to our students. They are literally reading their way into new worlds, thanks to you.

Happy Holidays
