Bailey’s Heart

In May of 2008, Bailey’s world was literally shaken to the core. Bailey lived in Beichuan—a city that was devastated by the earthquake. Only three years old, Bailey was fortunate to be rescued from the rubble of her home. Sadly, her parents had perished and Bailey’s heart was broken.

Now orphaned, Bailey was taken to Mianyang SWI in Sichuan. After a routine medical exam, doctors discovered that she has a heart defect. Through the generosity of our LWB supporters we were able to send Bailey for her heart surgery. Our hospital manager, Sherry, had this to say about Bailey:
As with most of the kids surviving the disaster, she remained silent, depressed and timid. Fortunately, she got less panic with more eye contact after we gave her snacks and toys.

Bailey is on her way to having a healthy heart. I wish we could fix her broken heart too. Please keep Bailey in your thoughts and hopefully she will find a family that will help her be a happy child once more.
