Bekah’s Watermelon Run 2018
One of our favorite fundraisers of the year is coming up in less than a month: Bekah’s 4th annual Watermelon Run! Bekah’s Watermelon Run+Walk+Roll is a 5K race in Colorado that welcomes participants to run, walk, wheel or enjoy a stroller ride along the accessible 5K / 3.1 mile course to raise funds for Love Without Boundaries Foundation and Biblia Global.
First of all, we want to share a little about Bekah and why she is so special to us. When Bekah was a baby living in China, she had heart surgery through Love Without Boundaries and was cared for at our Heartbridge Healing Home.
When she was adopted we all rejoiced, and then later grieved with her family when she suddenly passed away months after coming home. Bekah’s sister imagined this 5K as a way to honor her and raise funds for “other little Bekahs”. Their goal is to raise $30,000 each year, much of which is donated to help children with medical needs.
Here are some details:
This year’s 5K will be held Saturday, September 8 at 9:04 am (the start time honors Bekah’s birthday: 9/4) at Brave Church, 3651 S Colorado Blvd, Englewood, Colorado 80113. The course is a completely accessible 5k for runners, walkers, strollers, wheelchairs, and walkers.
Register in advance at bekahsrun5k.org/register online until August 24. Race day registration is also available.
As always, funds raised will be used to help children in our medical programs in need of surgery like baby Palmer.
If you live in the Colorado area, please consider participating in this heartwarming fundraiser which does so much good for so many children!
