Bekah’s Watermelon Run

Preparations are underway for one of our favorite events of the year, coming up at the end of September: Bekah’s Watermelon Run!

As a baby, Bekah was cared for at our Heartbridge Healing Home. We all rejoiced when she was adopted, and then grieved with her family when she suddenly passed away months after coming home.

Bekah’s big sister Lindsay (seen here in the middle) had an idea for honoring her little sister: a race to raise money for “other little Bekahs”.

Watermelon was Bekah’s favorite food, and so this event became Bekah’s’ Watermelon Run.

Last year, about 100 people participated in this wonderful fundraiser. Over $30,000 was raised, $28,350 of which was given to help children through Love Without Boundaries. All we can say is “WOW!”

We’re very proud to announce that Bekah’s Watermelon Run is now a Love Without Boundaries partner!

Here are the details for Bekah’s Watermelon Run for 2017:

Saturday, September 30 @ 9:04am (Bekah’s birthday is Sept 4…9/04)
Clement Park, Littleton, CO

Registration $30 (www.bekahsrun5k.org/register)

Fun features of this race include watermelons from a local farm, prizes from the Vintage Pearl, and coupons from Chick-fil-A.

If someone would like a shirt but is unable to participate, they can donate to the fundraiser (https://www.lovewithoutboundaries.com/teamlwb4/bekahs-watermelon-run) and write the shirt size in the comments.

If anyone is interested in becoming a sponsor, they can submit their information at www.bekahsrun5k.org/sponsor before Sept 8 to get their logo on the shirt and race day materials.

The handsome Chinese boy with the watermelon is Bekah’s new big brother, who was born with similar cardiac defects as Bekah.

He was adopted last year, right before the 2nd annual Bekah’s Run. His mom tells us that he thanks God for Bekah every night and says he can’t wait to meet her in heaven one day.

We hope those of you who live in the Colorado area will consider participating in this heartwarming fundraiser which does so much good for so many children!
