Caleb, Full of Fun Through The Years

In just about every photo we have of Caleb, he seems to be smiling, laughing and loving life! This fun-loving, affectionate boy has been waiting for his forever family for too long, and so we wanted to share some of his life story and photos to help people get to know the wonderful boy that he is.

It’s always bittersweet when we look back on a child like Caleb who has been in LWB care for most of his life. We feel so honored that we have been able to be a part of this wonderful little boy’s life for so long, but it’s also sad to think that he has been waiting for his forever family for all this time.

Caleb came into our care in 2008 at less than one year of age when he entered our Heartbridge Healing Home following heart surgery which we had arranged in Shanghai. While at the hospital, we also learned that he had an arachnoid cyst and congenital ptosis of his eye.

Caleb grew strong living at Heartbridge until he was nearly three. Then he graduated to our Anhui foster care program in 2010 where he has been living for the past five years.

While he has been waiting, however, Caleb has been living with his foster brother Henry, who had also been at Heartbridge with him.  These two boys are said to be inseparable, and volunteers who have visited their home can clearly see the bond between the two of them. We have so many photos of them together!

Henry has been chosen for adoption and will probably meet his forever family in the next few months. We have a feeling that this will be difficult for Caleb to lose his best buddy and foster brother, but we hold out hope that Caleb will also be adopted soon and that perhaps they will meet again.

Caleb has been attending school through our Tuition Assistance program. While he is delayed, he is described as an active and athletic boy who enjoys going to school.  He is currently in kindergarten, and his teachers have told us he is a joy to have in class. He also enjoys running around the school playground with Henry and his other school friends.

Caleb’s teachers say that he expresses himself clearly and can recite a number of poems.  They say he enjoys the creativity of art class and also loves to move to music!

Last month, Caleb turned eight years old. Rarely sick, he seems to be thriving. He enjoys playing with toys and shares very nicely with Henry and the other children.

Please share Caleb’s story and help his family find him!
