Change (Lives) Jar
How many of you have made New Year’s resolutions? One common resolution is to get organized and declutter. Another is to do something productive with the year ahead by helping others. What if you could combine these two resolutions into one easy new habit that would both declutter and change lives at the same time?
Dear LWB friends and supporters, we propose starting a Change (Lives) Jar for 2016.
You may have seen other ideas for using a mason jar to save money floating around the internet this first week of January. These jars propose that you put in one penny a day on January 1, two pennies per day on January 2, three pennies per day on January 3 etc. until you get to the end of the 2016 and then put in $3.65 on the last day. If you do this, you could save over $650 per year — which is pretty impressive.
However, if you’re like many of us, you may not carry around much spare change — not to mention exact change for those days towards the end of the year when more is required. This is why we are proposing that once a week you look through your pockets, wallet, sofa cushions and car to find the change that is lying around…and toss it into our Change (Lives) Jar.
We’ve put together an easy to print graphic (seen in the first photo of this blog) that you can use for your own jar.
Why not take one to work and see if you can get your co-workers in the habit of depositing spare change in order to change the lives of orphaned children as well? Children of all ages could also become involved with adding change to the jar. Little acts of kindness can produce big results.
If you participate, by the end of 2016 you might not have $650. And that’s okay! But as we know, donations in any amount given with a loving heart truly change Change Lives.
Lives like Luna’s…
Will you commit to joining us in the Change (Lives) Jar challenge of 2016 to help children in need? If so, we invite you to email us at [email protected] or comment on our Facebook page, and we will send you reminders, updates, and hopefully even some inspiration to keep you on track.
We are excited to hear what you and your family are doing to change lives for children in need!
Note: A portion of the funds donated for the Change (Lives) Jar challenge will be designated for our Healing Homes Formula Fund.
