Children’s Day 2020

June 1 is International Children’s Day, a time set aside to promote the welfare and well-being of children around the world.  In China, this day is usually a favorite for children living in orphanages as they are often treated to a special meal or receive gifts of fruit or sweets.  Many orphanages will take the children in their care to parks or other outdoor locations as well.  This year in China COVID-19 restrictions meant that many of the celebrations for orphaned children, including the kids in our healing home, were held indoors.

Our nannies and staff wanted this to be a day the kids would remember, so they ordered in the biggest cake they could find and brought in party hats to wear. Words really aren’t needed to see how much fun was had by all.

The gang is ready and waiting to dig in!

(Don’t worry — he got some!)

After a very subdued few months of quarantine due to COVID-19, the children and Healing Home staff really deserved — and got — a fun celebration!

Our China Healing Home program for children born with medical needs is in need of additional support. If you are able, please consider a gift in any amount to help us continue to give orphaned children in China the opportunity to heal and grow in a loving environment.
