Club Foot Repair at Heartbridge

This is Janice, our newest arrival at Heartbridge. Janice comes from Qidong, Hunan and has the multiple challenges of being born with cleft lip and palate, AND a severely clubbed left foot. She is a beautiful little girl with a head full of gorgeous curls!

Above you can see Janice’s tiny feet. At Heartbridge, she will join Kaleb, another newcomer from Hunan who was also born with club feet.

Now Kaleb is settled in and Dr. Hill has begun the process of gently stretching and casting his feet each week. This is called the Ponsetti method (see photo below), and is a wonderful alternative to surgery for children born with club feet.

We are hopeful that casting will also work for Janice, and at the same time our Medical team will arrange for surgery on her cleft lip.

Kaleb (a distinguished older gentleman, four whole months old) came to Heartbridge at the very end of May. As a newborn his feet looked like this:

With tender love and excellent medical care, Janice and Kaleb should both have nice straight feet by the end of this year, and Janice will have a brand new smiles as well! If you would like to sponsor Janice, please click here for more information:
