Diane: Bringing Her Own Sunshine

Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine. ~Anthony J. D’Angelo

Oh, this girl! I have the feeling, if given the chance, Diane would solve all the world’s problems with her joy and her smile. She is currently ready and waiting for a family to choose her for adoption, so let me tell you a little bit about this bright ray of sunshine.

She makes me smile every time I look at her and read about her: her exuberance for all she comes in contact, her bright eyes, & her laugh.

Diane 8.15

Last fall, I had the privilege of meeting this sweet one in person! What I saw is what I consider to be a truly a beautiful soul whose inner beauty radiates to all around her.

Diane is ten years old and has been a student at our Believe in Me orphanage school in Qingyang since 2015. Her teachers report that Diane is eager to jump in and learn.

They say that she loves to participate in dancing and singing with the class. When I was visiting her class, Diane was always front and center, leading the other children and keeping perfect time with the steps.

From what I observed, I feel that Diane’s progress at school is remarkable, and she has grown by leaps and bounds. When she first entered school, the classroom structure and lessons were all new to her, but she rapidly adjusted.

This is what I saw when I visited:  She began learning poems and then reciting them from memory. She went from having her teeth brushed for her to brushing her own teeth and accomplishing several other self-hygiene tasks. She has now been exposed to many different foods through our School Nutrition program and has had the chance to participate in food preparation by using different utensils, even cutting carefully with a knife!

Diane adores art! She seems to work very hard to complete the assignments given to her and appears proud of what she accomplishes.

Diane seems to love her classmates and honors and respects her teachers. Often a helper, she cleans up and puts away items in the classroom. Often, she is willing to pitch in and help others who cannot clean up after themselves.

The children in the Believe in Me school have had the chance to learn about appropriate social interactions. When I arrived to the school one morning, Diane immediately practiced what she had learned on me! She greeted me verbally, took my hand, and led me to a seat. As I sat down, she left me to take the hand of the next guest in the room. Although cautious at first, Diane eventually felt comfortable enough to place a sweet hug around my neck. I observed her to be very caring and considerate of everyone she comes into contact with. In my opinion, Diane leaves the room better than it was when she came in.

Based on what I saw and experienced when I had the pleasure of meeting this ray of sunshine, I feel that Diane could bring love and joy to the right home. Could your family be the right home for Diane?

Please continue to advocate to help find this ray of sunshine her forever family!
