Elin’s Emerging Smile

For the past five years, Elin has been living in our Dingyuan foster care program. During that time, we have seen her grow in confidence and lately have loved seeing her smile get bigger and more confident. Now, this lovely girl is eligible for adoption and is just waiting to be chosen by a family!

Elin is a gentle, sweet girl of eight years old who lives with her foster brother and sister.  She knows the safety rules of her house and has been known to warn them to be careful not to get hurt; she also shares her sweets and toys with them. She likes to help her little foster sister put her shoes on and comforts her when she cries. What a sweet big sister!

Here are a few of the the things she loves:

Her friends at school
Going on walks to the supermarket or the playground
Cartoons on TV (Mickey Mouse and the Monkey King are her favorites!)
Reading picture books and cartoon strips
Playing in water

Elin attends school with Ifan, her foster brother (she is dressed in black, sitting next to him in the below photo).  Her teachers report that she learns best through observation and often watches other children do things and then is able to follow along and do it herself.

Since Elin has been in our foster care program for five years, we have so many photos of her; watching her grow and change has been fun for us.  We thought our readers might also like to see how she has changed through the years.

Isn’t it wonderful to see how her smile has emerged lately?

Elin has special needs that include weakness in her lower limbs, epilepsy, and speech delays. Elin does seem to understand what people are saying but she speaks in a very low voice; adults must listen very carefully to hear what she is saying.

We feel that this sweet, special girl is beginning to feel more confident in herself lately, but we would love to see her confidence emerge even more with the love, care, and nurture of a forever family. Please email us at [email protected] if you would like more information!

Love Without Boundaries proudly advocates for adoption but is not an adoption agency. We invite you to contact [email protected] with questions about a child we have featured and encourage you to contact your adoption agency for more information about China’s Waiting Child Program.
