Final Day of Hefei Mission

Hefei, China has been very kind to the medical team and volunteers. We have made so many nice friends. Dr. Huan, the hospital President, gave a very nice toast tonight at our farewell dinner. He stated he considered LWB part of his “family”. This is a HUGE compliment and a great honor! We are so grateful to Anhui Children’s Hospital for making us all feel so welcomed here.

The baby of the day was little Daisy. She received the precious gift of cleft lip surgery. This will make it so much easier for her to drink her bottle and best of all, smile! She can really put a spell on you with those long black lashes and her sweet laid back demeanor. We all want to take the babies home with us, and we wish it was that easy! I hope these babies will soon find their “forever family” as each and every one is just so special.

Sadly, Lance and Ni had to have their surgeries canceled due to fever and cough. We know many of you are following them and will be disappointed like we are with this news. But of course their immediate health has to come first. Ni is going to have an echo done on her heart, and we will make sure they receive their surgery once they are healthy.

Yuan Yuan tried on her new hat today! She looked great! Her happy smiling face is returning after a rough night of upset tummy. We think she will be able to fly back to her home in Beijing very soon. All of us are hopeful that her adoption paperwork will fly through the necessary departments so that she can come out on a list and be chosen by a lucky family.

Thank you for supporting LWB on another wonderful medical mission. And special thanks to Dr. Buckmiller, Dr. Glade, and all the LWB medical team volunteers for giving so much of yourselves to change the lives of children in China.
