Healing Home Grads

Just as June is the month for many high school and college grads around the world, it’s also been a time of celebration for many babies in our healing homes. The last few weeks we have been called by so many orphanages with fragile babies needing one-on-one care, and so it was time for some of the children in our homes to move onto LWB foster care to make way for new arrivals.  Graduating from our healing home program is such a huge accomplishment for these precious kids, as it means they have gone from being really sick or vulnerable to being healthy enough to transition to family care, like little Noah pictured above.  When this beautiful little boy came into our hands as a preemie, he weighed just under four pounds at one month old.   Now topping the scales at over 16 pounds, he is settling into life with his new foster mom.

Matt was born with cleft lip and palate, and his orphanage called us when he became failure to thrive.  Matt had his cleft lip repaired recently, and it was his time as well this week to move into a foster family.   All of the nannies at the Anhui Healing Home are going to miss his fun and cheerful personality, but we know he is going to bring so much joy to his new foster parents.

Many of you might remember little Etan, who was one of the smallest preemies we have taken in.  Etan spent a long time in the neonatal ICU gaining strength before coming to our healing home program, but now he is ready for discharge.  Etan moved yesterday to our Zhang Village foster care program, where he can be closely monitored to make sure his wonderful progress continues.

We are so very grateful to everyone who supported these beautiful boys in our healing home program and look forward to following them in their new foster homes.  In the words of Dr. Seuss, to each of them we say:

“Congratulations!  Today is your day!
You’re off to Great Places!  You’re off and away!”
