Heartbridge Bringing Babies Closer To Their Dreams

So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.

-Christopher Reeve

This is true for a tiny baby girl named Na who was born in August, long before her due date. Her will to survive is bringing her steps closer to the attainment of her dreams. True, she may not even know she has dreams, yet; but until then let’s you and I dream for her. Let us dream of the day she will have chubby cheeks, and let’s dream of the day she will stand on wobbly legs, and finally let’s dream of the day she is no longer alone in the world.

Na’s orphanage received her soon after her birth and asked for our help to take care of her. At 1.25kg she was too small to drink from a bottle, and too small to maintain her body temperature. It seemed improbable that she would survive. We were able to send her immediately to Anhui Children’s Hospital where she received nearly 2 months of care.

On October 20th she was strong enough to leave the hospital and we sent her to Heartbridge Pediatric Healing Unit in Beijing. This is a place were we are able to provide “step down” care for medically fragile children who are not quite ready to return to their orphanage. Na is doing wonderfully now and is up to 3.8 kg. She is alert and healthy and suddenly her dreams seem inevitable.
