Herakles: LWB’s Featured Child of the Week

Herakles was born in rural Guizhou Province with a heart defect and an intestinal obstruction. Through LWB’s Medical Program, he received life-saving surgery for both conditions.

In August Herakles arrived at LWB’s True Children’s Healing Home (TCHH) in Fujian, where he is receiving one-on-one care from experienced nannies and an on-site medical team.

Life in rural China is hard on medically fragile babies. Healing and growing are tall orders for little bodies, and these tasks are much harder when coupled with post-operative challenges. Babies healing from surgery need not only one-on-one care, but optimal environmental conditions, including Featured Childair conditioning, central heat, and a bit of “floor time” to exercise their muscles, play, and learn.

After a few weeks at TCHH, Herakles is settling in well. At nine months old, he can now sit independently, which is important when there are so many toys to explore. He is gaining weight and interacts well with his nannies. He likes to show that he is happy and content by singing, which makes everyone smile. Herakles is definitely on the road to cuteness and health. This young boy is in need of a few additional monthly sponsors at $50 per month, or $25 per month for a shared sponsorship. Sponsors will receive monthly updates and photos.

Wouldn’t you like to be part of Herakles’ story of hope and healing?
