Ifan: Still Waiting To Be Chosen
Nine-year-old Ifan from our Dingyuan Foster Care Program is described in his reports from China as “thoughtful” and as a child who “cares for others.” We are always touched by the examples given each month in his report.
Ifan loves to spend time with his foster dad. This past month he went to a wedding dinner with his foster dad. Elin, Ifan’s foster sister, couldn’t join them because she has some mobility issues. Ifan realized that Elin was sad that she couldn’t attend, so before leaving for the wedding, Ifan comforted his sister and promised to bring some snacks home for her. After having a wonderful time at the dinner party, Ifan brought back some sweets and melon seeds and gave them ALL to his sister.
Doesn’t he sound like a wonderful brother?
He also insisted that our foster care manager take a photo of him and Elin together, holding the certificates they both earned for excellence in school.
Ifan is said to love school and be very good at writing and math. He loves to show off his school work each month when our manager visits.
One day when Ifan wasn’t feeling well, he had to come home from school. He rested that day, but when he had to stay home the next he could be heard sighing and seemed anxious. When he took out an exercise book and started writing all the names of all his classmates, his foster father realized he missed being at school. He offered to take Ifan back to school and watched as Ifan quickly packed his papers and books. Ifan was so happy to get back to his friends and his teacher!
Each month our Dingyuan foster care manager brings a little surprise for Ifan and Elin. While our manager took this photo, Ifan spoke to the camera saying, “I love cars and would like to take a picture with my new car.”
From our foster care manager’s reports, Ifan seems to be a great brother, a kind and considerate person, and a thoughtful and polite family member. We are thankful he continues to receive such wonderful foster care. Ifan is a boy who deserves a forever family of his own!
