Kathleen, So Fair and Bright

She’s my Kathleen, so fair and bright, evening star and morning light…so go the lyrics of the Irish folk song, “My Kathleen”. We are happy to be helping a one-year-old baby girl named Kathleen…and we sure think she is fair and bright!

Kathleen is one year old and lives in an orphanage in Jiangsu province. She was born with congenital heart disease and has lived with it for a year. Now that she is getting older, however, doctors feel that it would be a good time to repair her heart.

Kathleen’s VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect) means she has a hole in the muscular wall which separates the two ventricles of her heart. Since Kathleen’s VSD is considered a moderate size, it is making her heart work inefficiently. Part of it is also becoming enlarged.

We would like to get Kathleen moved for her surgery as soon as possible to prevent any more enlargement. We hope you will partner with us to offer Kathleen a future as fair and bright as we think she is!
