Let the Healing Begin!

All the members of our medical team have arrived safely in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. Phnom Penh is the country’s largest and most densely populated city, with over 1.5 million people calling it home. Children will be coming here from all over Cambodia to have surgeries this week.

Our team photographer for the week, Sherri Cox, snapped some pictures around town to give everyone a feel for where all the excitement will be happening.

Intake Day begins tomorrow, which is always a very busy time. All of the children are examined by the doctors. and decisions are made on whether or not it is safe for a child to undergo surgery this week.

Little Avery, whom we introduced you to last week on our blog, and her mom arrived safely to the capital. We’re all hoping she will sail through her pre-op tests.

We send our deepest thanks to everyone who is working to make this life-changing medical exchange possible. Here’s to a wonderful week of both healing and hope. We can’t wait to introduce you to the kids tomorrow. Stay tuned!

How wonderful to see all the photos of the area where you are this week, and to get a glimpse of where the children who will be having the surgeries, are from. Prayers and blessings to all the medical staff and helpers as you prepare and perform the surgeries this week!! “Smile-makers” are special!!
