Life Skills Camp: The Forbidden City, Tian’anmen Square, and More Fun

The teens at our Life Skills Camp are really starting to relax as they get to know each other better!

On the first day of camp, we purposefully put them into groups where they do not know anyone so that they can branch out and make friends from other orphanages. As you will see from these photos, the fun has really begun.

Today was the third day of Life Skills Camp, and the field trip for the morning began at The Forbidden City.

Then the campers went to Tian’anmen Square where they took a group photo and were amazed by the crowds.

After their tours and a quick lunch, the teens went back to the hotel to learn about personal finance. This is so important since many of them do not know how to make and keep a budget. The lecture also covered the importance of not using high-interest lending places. So many young adults do not realize how these businesses can impact their financial situation long-term.

It looks like the teens really enjoyed their dinner — and the fellowship of their fellow campers.

Day Four will bring a trip to the Summer Palace in Beijing as well as sessions on sex education, puberty, HIV, and preventing date rape.
