Lindsey: LWB’s Featured Child of the Week
In February, a beautiful, bright-eyed baby girl weighing just eight pounds arrived at Anhui Cleft Healing Home (ACHH). Lindsey quickly became attached to her nanny and would cry loudly whenever the nanny left the room. Even at two months of age, Lindsey had incredible eye contact and was eager to interact with the nannies. They reported that once she locks eyes with you, her face brightens and she expects that you must go to her immediately for a chat or to pick her up. Smart girl!
We were so excited to see Lindsey gain two pounds in her first month at ACHH, but in early April Lindsey caught a virus and developed diarrhea and bronchitis. Within two days she was so weak and unresponsive that she was rushed to the hospital and admitted directly to the ICU, where she spent 12 days before being discharged back to ACHH with instructions for nebulizer treatments. The home’s assistant manager diligently provided her treatments several times a day, and her nannies were delighted that she was back in their arms. Lindsey quickly gained more weight and her strength returned.
Just last week Lindsey received her life-changing cleft lip surgery. We are so grateful to her surgery sponsors who provided the funds for her lip repair. Yet Lindsey’s hospital bills came to nearly $5,000 for her previous hospital stay. Lindsey is in great need of sponsors to help with her medical care costs. As a sponsor, you will receive monthly updates and photos while Lindsey is at ACHH and at intervals for one year after her cleft surgery. Your one-time or ongoing donation in any amount is greatly appreciated.
