Meet Carlos

About one week after being born with cleft lip and palate, baby Carlos entered our Healing Homes program weighing a whopping 5.5 lbs.

After six weeks of loving care, he had a double chin!

Carlos did not smile much at first, but soon he became the apple in healing home nannies’ eyes and they spoiled him…just a little.

After his successful cleft surgery, Carlos joined a foster family in Changzhi where the spoiling continued by his foster mom and dad.

This lucky fellow had two big foster sisters, Ella and Serena. These big sisters played alongside Carlos, teaching him lots of things like how to build with blocks, scribble, share snacks and how to stand up for himself.

Carlos’ expressions are priceless, and you can truly see his personality shining through.

Now that Ella and Serena have been adopted and live in the United States, we hope that three-year-old Carlos does not have to wait much longer for a forever family of his own. We have heard the great news that his adoption file is being prepared, so hopefully a family will be able to see his file soon and know that he is their son!

We couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who has sponsored Carlos over the years — from his time growing stronger at our healing home before and after cleft repair surgery to his years in our foster care program. YOU have made all the difference in the world and changed his life for the better!

It bothers me how you keep saying that caregivers SPOILED him. Who wants to adopt a spoiled brat? I hope you just mean that his caregivers doted on him and did everything REASONABLE to make him happy and healthy.

Carlos is so amusing! He has stolen many hearts! I hear his nick name is Bing after Bing Crosby! Can’t you see the resemblance?
