Meet Sierra

We would love every good thought for beautiful little Sierra.  This two year old girl was recently left at an orphanage in Anhui, most likely due to her having an abscess that had formed near her tailbone.

When she was moved to the hospital, it was discovered that she has more than one, and after testing the doctors have confirmed that she has spinal TB. They are treating her for two weeks with the medication and then will do surgery. We are all hoping that the tuberculosis is at a stage where she can have the abscesses removed through surgery, and then she can receive medical treatment.  However, if it has progressed further, she might need to have rods placed in her spine, a much more complicated surgery and recovery.

We are always so grateful to our wonderful friends and supporters who allow life saving medical care to be given to children in need.   It only happens through your kindness – and we send our deepest thanks!

This is one of the beautiful kids we get to care for in the General Surgery program. When I first saw these pictures of Sierra in her princess dress, it struck me how much she’s like every other girl her age. What little girl doesn’t love a good princess dress? I’m so excited to see her happy and healed. May there be many more pretty dresses in her future!
