Michael from Chenzhou

Being a twelve-year old boy on the shared list of children waiting for adoption is not easy. These boys are often overlooked as potential adoptive parents are looking for children who are younger. Michael is the oldest boy in our programs waiting to be chosen by a family, and we wanted to feature him again today to let everyone know this wonderful boy is still waiting!

Michael is a twelve-year old student in our Education program in Chenzhou, Hunan. As you can see from these photos, he has a sunken right eye. What you can’t see is that he also he is a considerate boy with a big heart!

Michael is very polite and always ready to help others. This open boy greets anyone he meets: friends or strangers. Michael enjoys helping the nannies taking care of younger children and doing some cleaning.

Michael loves to learn and is very active in class.  Based on some exam results, last fall he was awarded the “Star of Learning” award.  What a wonderful achievement for a boy with his challenges! He also likes to show his talent in front of people, dancing, singing and reciting poems. Doesn’t he have a lovely, clear voice?

This story exemplifies the kind of strength Michael has. He has hemiplegia and sometimes has seizures at school, which he manages independently. When he feels this coming on, he first tells the nannies and then goes to a corner to endure the pain by himself. And when everything is over, he tells the nanny that he is fine. We would love to imagine Michael having parents one day who would stay by his side if a seizure comes on. Or better yet, parents who could perhaps help him find a way to reduce his seizures through therapy and medication so that Michael does not feel he has to go into a corner alone to endure them.

Due to unfortunate circumstances, it is likely that Michael will no longer be able to attend school as he had been this past year.

We believe that every child deserves a family and the chance for an education, and we hope that one day soon we will hear that Michael has been chosen by a family of his very own!

Thanks for your interest in Michael and our organization. Love Without Boundaries is a non-profit foundation whose goal is to help transform the lives of orphaned and impoverished children through medical, educational, nutrition, and foster care programs. We are not an adoption agency although we do advocate for children in our care who are having difficulty finding families. Our Adoption Advocacy Team would be happy to tell you more about how to research the costs and process involved in international adoption from China if you are interested. Please email us at [email protected] if you are interested in learning more about Michael or adoption in general. Best wishes to you!

I would love to adopt this child or any one like him, but know nothing of your organization or what it entails. We don’t have thousands of dollars to finance adoptions, and don’t like the principle of rich people “buying a child”. We do have a loving home, food and clothing, and open hearts, which we would gladly share. Do you advertise children in need to find people rich enough to claim them, or seek to bridge connections with those who have good homes but no way to make them known or available?
