Princess Of The Room

In September 2007, a sweet little girl named Mei came to LWB’s Heartbridge Pediatric Healing Unit with an unrepaired cleft lip and palate and a heart condition.  When she arrived at Heartbridge, she was 10 months old and weighed just 5.66 kg (12.4 pounds)–a tiny little peanut.

It didn’t take long for her to win hearts, and, by the spring, she was described as the “princess of the room.”   In March of this year, she was sent to the hospital for heart surgery, but, when she got there, the doctors could not find anything wrong with her heart.  She returned to Heartbridge, and, in June, her lip was repaired.  Mei now sports a new smile.   In July, we had one more follow-up echo done on her heart, which showed a small VSD that showed promise of closing on its own.

Just this month, Mei returned to her orphanage where, rumor has it, she is having her paperwork prepared for adoption!   Oh, and did I mention that when she left Heartbridge, not only did she have a strong heart and a pretty new smile, but she is also sporting 8 1/2 new pounds!
