Sharing the Wonder of Childhood
If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder without any such gift from the fairies, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in. — Rachel Carson
We love this quote because it reminds us of why we believe so much in foster care for children who are orphaned. We have lots of goals for our foster care program, which we now run in 16 cities in China. Most of them can be summed up by saying that our hope for the children we place into homes is that they will know what it feels like to be loved. We agree with Ms. Carson that every child born deserves at least one person who truly believes in them and who will take the time to share in their joy and wonder.
