Meeting Ifan

While traveling in China recently, I took the opportunity to take a side trip to meet a very special boy. Ifan had been part of the Love Without Boundaries foster care program since he was a baby. He lived with a wonderful foster family and was particularly close to his foster father. They would work in the courtyard garden and look at cars together. Ifan really loved visiting the neighbors in the small community in which they lived.  Then one year ago, his orphanage recalled all the children back to the institution, and Ifan lost the security of living with the family he loved.

Waiting for Adoption in 2019

As orphaned children grow older, their opportunity to be chosen for adoption shrinks. Today we are highlighting 15 children from our programs in China who are currently waiting for a permanent home of their own. We believe that every child deserves a family. An Adoption Assistance Grant for Sawyer

Sawyer is an adorable seven-year-old in our Huainan Foster Care program who is waiting for his opportunity for a permanent family of his own. For the past five years, Sawyer has lived with the same foster family.

An Adoption Grant for Lilah

Hooray for adoption grants! Starting this month, LWB will be offering a $3,000 Adoption Assistance Grant for a family that chooses to move forward with Lilah’s adoption.

An Adoption Grant for Daniel

Daniel has been a part of our foster care program in Sanmenxia for the past three years. We have blogged on Daniel many times, yet sadly he still waits. We are pleased to announce that LWB is now offering a $2,500 Adoption Assistance Grant for the family who ends up adopting Daniel!

An Adoption Assistance Grant for Robert

We are happy to announce our newest recipient of an LWB Adoption Assistance Grant — Robert!

Robert is eight years old and attends school at our Believe in Me orphanage school in Lanzhou. He has been diagnosed with EV, or Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis. While his condition is not life-threatening, it is very unusual. EV is a rare inherited condition that is characterized by the development of skin lesions which can be very sensitive to the touch. Luke Is On The Mend and Waiting For a Family

For most of his life, Luke has been a part of Love Without Boundaries’ programs. He started out in our Nutrition program when he was just a baby and then moved into our Education program when he was three years old.

Luke is now seven years old. In December, his teachers told us that he was struggling to catch his breath and that his lips were turning blue when it was cold. After an evaluation at Hefei Cardiac Hospital, doctors told us that Luke needed immediate heart surgery. Left untreated, the Tet spells he was having could possibly be fatal. So Luke put on a brave face and smiled before his surgery. Read more.

Whether we know and love someone who is adopted, are ourselves an adoptee, or have been privileged to have adopted a son or daughter ourselves, many of us have been touched by adoption. While Love Without Boundaries is not an adoption agency, adoption is something we celebrate and advocate for daily since the majority of children we have the privilege of working with are among the thousands of children in China currently without families of their own. Luke’s Wish

Eight-year-old Luke in our Kaifeng foster care program has been singing and dancing his way into our hearts since we first met him as a tiny baby in need of heart surgery.We have been advocating for this little guy to be adopted for so long and have many blogs about him. We hold onto our wish for Luke that he will make his way into the hearts of a forever family soon!
