Amazing Grace

After 18 long hours, Grace’s surgery to remove extensive abdominal tumors was complete at 1am local time in Belgium. We are happy to report that she is recovering well. Grace’s mom was right by her bedside after she had been settled in the ICU. Although her mom looked tired, she must have been so relieved the procedure was over and that Grace had come through such a long and complex operation.

An Update on Monica

As you may remember, we recently learned that Monica from our foster care program in China has retinoblastoma, a very rare and malignant eye cancer. (Read more in our blog, Urgent Help Needed for Monica). Monica has just completed her first round of chemotherapy. Thankfully, she seems to have a good appetite and ate almost half a bowl of congee when our China director visited.

Keegan and Kolton’s Battle With Leukemia

This October, I had the privilege of meeting two very special boys in our Cambodia Medical program.  We met Keegan and Kolton this June when both boys were very sick.  They were quickly diagnosed with leukemia, a cancer of the blood cells, which was particularly affecting their eyes.
