Cleft Surgeries for Three Orphaned Boys From Henan

This summer, we were contacted by an orphanage in Henan about three little boys in need of cleft repair: Finn, Ben, and Keaton. Precious Keaton was born with a cleft lip and palate. Already six months old, he is struggling to put on weight, which is unfortunately common for children born with cleft lip as they can be difficult to feed.

Healing Sebastian’s Heart

When our team was identifying children for our November 2018 Cleft Medical Exchange, we learned about a little boy named Sebastian. Sebastian is seven years old and lives with his grandparents and sister in a remote part of Gansu province. His parents are migrant workers far from home.

Aiden’s Story

One summer seven years ago, a baby boy was born with a cleft lip and palate. When he was several months old, he came into LWB care, and we named him Aiden. Aiden grew in our Anhui Healing Home and had his cleft repaired through our Medical program when he was six months old. Read more.

The Shanxi Seven: Planning Cleft Surgeries

During our Cleft Medical Exchange in April, we were honored to be able to help Charlie, a little boy from an orphanage in Shanxi province. Charlie was the first child that this orphanage had ever entrusted to our care, and we of course were thrilled to be able to provide him with surgery to repair his unilateral cleft lip. What a difference it made for him!

Charlie returned to his orphanage following his time in the hospital in Henan. His orphanage was very pleased with his repair and recently asked us if we could help seven other children also receive cleft repair surgeries. Read more.

Guess What’s Just Around the Corner? The 2016 Cleft Medical Exchange!

This coming April, doctors, medical staff, and volunteers from the U.S. and the U.K. will travel to China to work with doctors and staff at Kaifeng Children’s Hospital to provide surgeries for children with cleft needs. Read more.

Our 2015 Cleft Exchange is just around the corner! In two months, 35 to 40 children will arrive in Kaifeng for their cleft lip or palate surgery. For those of you who have gone through this surgery with your little one, you know how painful recovery can be, and how helpful those little things we call “no-nos” can be.

Treasure Trove

Here at Love Without Boundaries, we are keepers of treasure. Besides the children in our care, we safekeep another treasure trove — the photos and histories of children who were in our care but have since been adopted. This treasure is one that we don’t wish to hoard, but to share!

JingJing came to us with heart disease. We helped with her surgery and then placed her into foster care in Henan province where she absolutely thrived. Photos of her shopping with her foster mom and looking like a princess always made us smile. JingJing went on to live with her forever family, but they have never contacted us. Read more.

The Inspiration of Mei
