Julia: LWB’s Featured Child of the Week

Julia arrived at the Fujian Healing Home (FHH) in July 2011, at just five months of age. Julia had already been through surgery for an abdominal obstruction, and her orphanage in Gutian was having a difficult time with her post-op care. Fortunately we were able to take this sweet girl into FHH for additional treatment and to receive some “TLC” from our wonderful staff. It didn’t take long at all for Julia to start melting the hearts of the caregivers at FHH; with her wonderful smile and shining eyes, she is irresistible!

Counting Our Blessings on the Twelve Days of Christmas: Healing Homes

On the eleventh day of Christmas, we give thanks that our four healing homes are in place to take in the most vulnerable babies. When little Jan first came to our cleft medical exchange in October, she was so weak that she was unable to smile, and so thin that we worried whether she would qualify for surgery (please click on this link to see her amazing before and after photos). Following her operation, we knew she needed a safe place to recover and so she was moved to our newest healing home in Fujian province. Within weeks, she graced us with her first smile, and now she continues to make remarkable progress.

Anwen: LWB’s Featured Child of the Week

Anwen is a sweet little six-month-old girl who moved to LWB’s Fujian Healing Home (FHH) about three weeks ago. Last week, Anwen had hernia surgery and everything went well. She is gaining weight and is always cooing and smiling, as you can see here!
