Our Pediatric Surgery Mission in Uganda Continues!

In early September, we wrapped up our first-ever Pediatric Surgery Mission in Uganda in partnership with Holy Innocents Children’s Hospital by completing 187 surgeries. Another 123 children were added to the waiting list, and we were so grateful when our supporters stepped up to help them as well. We want to share just a few of their incredible stories here with you as we celebrate that these children finally received long-awaited healing.

Uganda Pediatric Surgery Mission: Day Five

The Ugandan people are celebrated for their spirit of generosity. Did you know that Uganda accepts more people fleeing persecution and war-torn lands than any other country on earth?  Over 1.4 million refugees have found safety in her borders.  When asked why such a poverty-stricken country would continue to help others in need, most Ugandans simply answer, “Because it’s the right thing to do.” Even those who have nothing material to give still offer their abundant prayers.

Uganda Pediatric Surgery Mission: Day Four

The medical team in Uganda has definitely found an amazing rhythm, as today 38 children received operations. That is something truly wonderful to celebrate!  Let’s all give a standing ovation to this amazing group of doctors and nurses who have come together at Holy Innocents Children’s Hospital this week with the sole purpose of helping kids find healing.

Uganda Pediatric Surgery Mission: Day Three

Another wonderful surgery day has been completed in Uganda, with 35 more children receiving operations. The medical team operated for 12 straight hours today and added a fourth operating room table to make sure every possible child who came this week will be healed.

Uganda Pediatric Surgery Mission: Day Two

As the campus of Holy Innocents Children’s Hospital filled with waiting families, the first day of surgeries got started bright and early. Excitement filled the air as each parent heard the news that their child was being added to the surgery schedule.
