Jordyn

As Down Syndrome Awareness month moves into National Adoption Month this November, we want to introduce baby Jordyn. Jordyn was born with Down Syndrome and now needs emergency heart surgery to survive…so that someday she can hopefully have a family of her own. We recently received a call from an orphanage in Anhui. A beautiful two-month-old baby girl in their care was suspected of having a serious heart defect in addition to being diagnosed with Down Syndrome. When they asked if we could help her get the quality medical evaluations she needed, we quickly agreed.

Four Ways to Celebrate National Adoption Month

This November, please join us in celebrating National Adoption Month!

Michelle5 (1)

Whether we know and love someone who is adopted, are ourselves an adoptee, or have been privileged to have adopted a son or daughter ourselves, many of us have been touched by adoption. While Love Without Boundaries is not an adoption agency, adoption is something we celebrate and advocate for daily since the majority of children we have the privilege of working with are among the thousands of children in China currently without families of their own. The Complexities of Adoption

Over the weekend I was contacted by an adult adoptee who felt the images we were posting on social media in honor of National Adoption Month trivialized the vast complexities of adoption. She wrote, “Adoption isn’t a quote superimposed on a picture. And it certainly isn’t a cheery saying on the front of a t-shirt. Adoption carries with it a lot of pain, and it shouldn’t be reduced to a greeting card.”

Ready to Adopt

I read her letter carefully, because as an adoptive mom myself, I always want to listen and learn from those who have shared a similar type of journey as my children. Read more.

Advocate, Adopt, Sponsor, Share: Celebrate National Adoption Month

Nearly all of us here at Love Without Boundaries have been touched by adoption in some way, and so we love honoring and celebrating ADOPTION in the month of November!  One of our core beliefs is that all children deserve to know the love of a family, regardless of the country in which they were born. We have so much respect for the foster care system in the United States and celebrate when we hear that a child in need of a forever family here in our own country has been adopted!  However, our focus is China, and we want to use this month to highlight the thousands of orphaned children living in China, waiting for families to love them.

Celebrating 2012

While we wish we could post the photo of every child we helped in 2012, we hope you will enjoy this much shorter snapshot of some of the joys of this last year!

In January, we celebrated our Unity Fund, which works to heal poor, rural children so that families can stay together.  HeQing’s father had no financial means to heal his precious daughter’s heart, and we are so grateful to our donors who gave her this second chance at a healthy life.  As you can see, her smile absolutely lit up the hospital ward! Thoughts on National Adoption Month

November is National Adoption Month.  To help celebrate we created a video we thought was flat out FUN, showing families formed through adoption getting their groove on.   We released it a little over a week ago, and the negative comments about international adoption started shortly after.  Obviously a lot of people have very different ideas on what exactly National Adoption Month (NAM) stands for, and many feel that only domestic adoption should be included.
