Complex Hearts

Most people who’ve heard the story of Love Without Boundaries know that it all began with one baby boy born with congenital heart disease and a group of parents who wanted to help him. Since 2003, we’ve provided life-changing operations to thousands of orphaned and impoverished children, with over 750 of those receiving heart surgery.

Arthur’s Heart Surgery

Earlier this week, we introduced you to little Arthur who had just arrived at the hospital in Shanghai.

Love For Luna

Last fall, we were contacted about an eight-month-old baby girl with severe congenital heart disease. Her orphanage had recently sent her to Beijing, but doctors there felt there was nothing that could be done surgically for her.

Luna, as she came to be known, was suffering from repeated bouts of respiratory infections and pneumonia, and it was clear that without something being done quickly, she would not survive. Read more.

Bran’s Heart

Chandler: LWB’s Featured Child of the Week

Five month old Chandler has made great progress recently at LWB’s Anhui Healing Home.  Meal time is one of her favorite parts of the day.  Hopefully, she likes alphabet soup, as her complex heart defect includes several acronyms! She was born with a complex heart defects including pulmonary atresia, ventricular septal defect (VSD), and patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). Read more

Branson: LWB’s Featured Child of the Week

Branson was born with complex heart defects, including Transposition of the Great Arteries, Pulmonary Atresia, Complete Endocardial Cushion Defect, VSD, and ASD. Branson has spent the past two months at an LWB healing home, receiving specialized care, with a tentative surgery date scheduled for August. However he has recently been experiencing episodes of severe breathing distress when the weather gets hot and oppressive, or when he cries. His doctors advise that he have surgery immediately.

Through the generosity of our supporters, nearly $9,000 has already been raised for Branson’s surgery, with a little over $2,200 remaining needed. Read more.

Tegan: LWB’s Featured Child of the Week

Featured child Tegan

Tegan is just barely a month old, but her heart defect is so serious that she is already having cyanotic episodes. The doctors have evaluated her echo and believe she will need a heart catherization before surgery to determine exactly what the best surgery plan will be. Her initial diagnosis is pulmonary atresia with VSD and PDA, and the doctors feel that her situation is urgent. Read more.
