Helping Others, One Smile At A Time

Julia Decker is on a mission — a mission to help others like her. Born in China with a bilateral cleft lip and palate, Julia lived in an orphanage for the first three and a half years of her life. An anonymous donor sponsored her lip surgery, which she feels was a catalyst to her getting adopted. “If I had not received this amazing gift, I might still be living in an orphanage and not with my amazing family.” Julia is now dedicated to helping other children born into the same circumstances.

Time is Running Out to Sign Up for the Marine Corps Marathon

It is said there are two types of runners: those who ran Marine Corps Marathon, and those who plan to. If you are the first type, reenlist in 2012. If it’s on your list, commit.

The time has come to run your favorite marathon on October 28 with your favorite charity! Registration for the 37th MCM sold out in record time, and time is running out to register with charities.  Team LWB still has some bibs available and we would love for you to join us! Registration ends August 7.  Don’t miss your chance to run in 2012! The funds raised for the Marine Corps Marathon 2012 will go directly to support orphaned children in China in one of LWB’s Healing Homes.

Don’t mess with women on a mission! Three intrepid LWB volunteers recently took part in the Flora Women’s Mini Marathon in Dublin, Ireland, to raise money for the children in the Henan Healing Home. New Jersey Family Fun Day

To make the New Jersey Marathon an entire weekend of fun, the New Jersey Marathon Festival (along with many sponsors and volunteering organizations) has created a special day full of fun family events for all ages and abilities.  Held on the Great Lawn at the Ocean Front Promenade in Long Branch, right next to the Ocean Place Resort Hotel where Runner’s Expo is taking place, there will be three running events just for kids and a variety of other fun activities.   Besides the fun everyone will surely have, the best part is that funds raised by the ticket sales to these events will go to support the amazing children in LWB’s Education programs, some of whom you can see in these photos.  If you live in or near New Jersey, please consider joining us!
