Team LWB – Washington, D.C.

After many months of planning, training and fundraising, our first ever Team LWB Marine Corps Marathon fundraiser was a huge success. A huge thank you to our runners, coming from all over the country, who raised OVER $25,000 to support children in Love Without Boundaries Foster Care Program.

Our MCM2008 weekend began with a pre-race pasta dinner, which was attended by most of TeamLWB and their family and friends. One of our runners, Lyn Thomas gave a very moving testimonial to foster care. Lyn is the mother of 4 children, two adopted from China. She told us the difference she has seen in her two adopted children – one whose referral page had the box “fostered” checked, and one who did not. The love for her children and her passion for the importance of foster care was very evident.

Most of our runners had great races and accomplished what they hoped to accomplish. Some made personal records, others simply finished in one piece. We had a few runners who had to drop out because of injuries and some who ran in spite of injuries. Of course the real winners of this race are the children who will benefit from foster care in the coming year.

You can view a short slide show of our very exciting weekend including the dinner, race, post race tent and of course some of the beautiful children who will benefit. Just click here http://animoto.com/play/bwBex0J3syhfzMoPmM1lWA

Congratulations and thank you to our runners: Michael Allen (Colorado Springs, CO), Amy Cantilina (Niceville, FL), Shawn Conard (Minneola, KS), Brian Dunn (Acworth, GA), Ben Glass (Fairfax Station, VA) and daughter Caitlin Glass (Gettysburg, VA), Dwain Gullion (Bennett, NC), Sonya Long (Northeast, MD unable to run due to ill child), Kristin Marks (Annandale, VA), Diana McCown (West Roxbury, MA unable to attend due to family emergency), Lyn Thomas (Cumming, GA), Andy Thompson (Trinity, NC) and son Drew Thompson (our youngest runner at 14 years old), Christina Woodling (York, PA).

A special thank you to our 2008 sponsors: Ben Glass Law, Tom Foster Web Marketing and Dr. Jeffrey Davis. Their sponsorship enabled more of the funds raised by our runners to directly benefit the children in foster care.

Thank you to all who supported them with prayers, encouragement and funds! Look for TeamLWB next year in the MCM2009 event, plan now to run, sponsor, or cheer the team on!

With a thankful heart,

Sandi Glass MCM 2008 Coordinator
