The Inspiration of Mei

This is our high-spirited Mei. She had her cleft lip repaired nine months ago and is described as ‘an extrovert and active’, in other words, she is a handful!

She likes to play with other children and she is starting to talk; saying grandma and grandpa, brother and sister. Doesn’t she look like she has a lot more to say? I am so thankful to Mei’s surgery sponsors as she is able to get the care that she needs because of their kindness and compassion.

We have more than 20 children whose lives will be changed like Mei’s this next week during the Cleft Medical Exchange in Shanghai. Two doctors from the US will travel to Shanghai to work with the surgeons of CHFD (Children’s Hospital of Fudan University) to repair cleft lips and cleft palates. These surgeries are vital to the health and development of these beautiful children and we are so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this project. Please follow along with us on our blog and witness for yourself, the first step in the transformation of these children. In nine months I hope to be able to tell you about these children being ‘extroverted and active’.

Kate Finco is Medical Co-Director for Love Without Boundaries Foundation. She lives in Wisconsin, USA, with her husband Tom. They have 4 children: 3 bio kids and the youngest who was adopted from Guangdong Province, China in 2006.
