The Tale of Isabella Bunny
Just in time for Easter, we bring you the tale of Isabella Bunny!
Once upon a time a little bunny named Isabella lived in a village in Henan with her foster grandma, foster grandpa, and foster brother. Isabella was six years old and was known throughout the village as an easygoing, mild-mannered girl full of happiness and joy.
One special person who filled Isabella with joy was her best friend Junie. Both Junie and Isabella were diagnosed with Down Syndrome, but they never let that get in the way of their fun! Junie was just a year older than Isabella and taught Isabella lots of things about being a good friend and well-behaved daughter. They had lots of fun together! Neither Junie nor Isabella had families of their own, but they cared for each other and the foster families who were taking care of them until their forever families found them.
One day, Junie heard great news: At last, her forever family had found her! Isabella will surely miss her friend Junie, but perhaps soon it will be Isabella’s turn to go home with a forever family of her very own.
When Isabella finds things funny, she smiles and laughs with delight. Because there are no schools for children with Down Syndrome in her village, Isabella does not go to school. However, her Down Syndrome has not kept her from learning to become independent. She is able to eat , change clothes, and use the bathroom — all by herself! Isabella is also able to run and climb, and she especially likes to play with her toy truck.
One day Isabella had a visit from a manager from Love Without Boundaries. Isabella really wanted to share her breakfast pancake with this lady, which is typical of her generous nature. She gets along well with her friends and foster brother and is quite good at sharing her toys as well as her food.
Because Isabella doesn’t go to school, she isn’t around books very much. However, one day she noticed her foster grandmother reading a magazine and became quite curious about what she was doing, so Grandma put her on her lap and they enjoyed reading the magazine together. Imagine how much fun Isabella would have with someone who would read books to her and tell her stories.
Grandma is one of Isabella’s favorite people. They spend almost all day together! Isabella likes to help her grandparents. One day, Grandpa fell asleep on the couch, and Grandma noticed he did not have a blanket. She asked Isabella to get Grandpa a blanket. Isabella did so and then helped Grandma tuck Grandpa in, patting his legs gently.
Isabella Bunny does speak some words but needs more practice, and does not yet speak in full sentences. However, she understands everything Grandma says to her and can follow instructions. Grandma says that Isabella does everything she is asked to do and never makes trouble!
Isabella is on the shared list. She is just waiting for her family to find her so that she can follow in her best friend Junie’s footsteps and be a part of a family that will love her forever. This lovely bunny deserves to live happily ever after!
