The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly. ~ Anonymous

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a classic children’s picture book by Eric Carle. Last month, all of our Believe in Me orphanage schools participated in a curriculum unit focused on this much-loved book, and the students seemed to really love and relate to the learning activities!

One of our Believe in Me teachers wrote:

During recent weeks, we did activities related to “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” with our kids. Using the book as the theme, we found many ways to teach them, such as matching pictures…

doing art work…

learning colors…

and tactile learning with clay.

All of the children got to pretend they were changing from caterpillars to butterflies.

The children enjoyed these activities very much!

Our Education team is continually seeking other similar curriculum ideas for special education. We love activities in which all children, regardless of their special needs, can participate. Please contact us at education@lwbmail.com if you have some plans to share.

Our students are ready to spread their wings and fly….just like the caterpillar did when he became a butterfly!
