Last month we had several visitors to our Heartbridge Healing Home from the U.S., and one of the women brought an adorable turkey costume for the kids to wear in honor of Thanksgiving. The nannies had so much fun dressing up all the boys in the home as “little turkeys.” We wanted to share some of their photos today while counting our blessings, because they sure made us smile!
Baby Alan loved wearing the costume and was quite content to sit and munch on some crackers in it. We look at his picture and give thanks for all of the wonderful supporters who make our work in China possible. You are changing lives every single day!
Next came tiny Leo, who has recovered wonderfully from his recent heart surgery. He was all smiles as Mr. Turkey. We look at his photo and give thanks for all of the incredible doctors and hospitals we partner with in China, who work with us to save so many precious lives each year.
Baby Patrick also thought the turkey suit was pretty funny. We look at his photo and give thanks that LWB can work so closely with so many different orphanages in China. We were able to move this beautiful boy for surgery the same day he was discovered because of those essential relationships.
Dominic was up next, and he decided to do a turkey dance when it was his turn to wear the costume. Today we give thanks for all of our wonderful team members around the world, who give of their time and their hearts so children like Dominic can have a true second chance.
And then finally there is Joel – a little boy whose heart is so complex and yet who has overcome every challenge he has faced so far. This little boy lives life with such gusto and joy that he is a perfect Thanksgiving reminder that every day we are given on earth is a blessing, especially when we are surrounded by those we love. Joel enjoyed the turkey costume so much that he decided his friend Tate wasn’t going to get a turn. Look out everyone – there’s a turkey on the run in the Heartbridge Healing Home! : )
From all of us at LWB to all of you – may you have the most beautiful of holidays.
